Runway Monthly’s April edition was a great success and surely enough the May edition, held last night, followed in its footsteps. If anyone had any remaining doubt that Calgary wasn’t home to some serious design talent this has surely been removed after an inspiring evening of fashion and fun. Analog Heart styled by Kimberley Jev was the first to take the runway sporting eclectic jewelry pieces that could make any outfit sizzle, followed by Bano eeMee’s tailored coats, which were paired with glamorous heels provided by Shoe Craze and sexy low-cut swimwear provided by She Apparel (both located on 17th Ave.) After the intermission, MaNoKin Design spring collection was shown, which gave an original take on feminine attire, demonstrating that pretty need not look ordinary. As determined by whispered exchanges overheard in the audience, girly girls everywhere will want a piece from the designer’s very wearable and ethereal collection. The entertainment continued with a comprehensive collection by Dionne Dionne, which had the feel of a catholic school, replete with naughty nuns and school girls gone fashionably wild. The collection was finished off with floor sweeping gowns that showed off the designer’s talent for design and construction. Next month’s edition will take place on a Saturday and will change things up. If the April and May editions were any indication of things to come there is an enormous amount of potential for Runway Monthly to become a staple in Calgary’s fashion diet.
